HEATON, Corky R. (Erle), Sr., 64, of Toronto, OH, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2014, in the Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, OH.
Corky was born Sept. 24, 1949, son of the late John 'Lee' and Dona Heaton.
He was retired from Weirton Steel where he worked for 44 years as a millwright. Corky was the former Steel Valley Youth Football Treasurer and the current Ohio Valley Youth Football Commissioner.
He was the athletic dir., equipment manager and coach for the Toronto Titans for 38 years and for the past 21 years, he was the equipment manager for the Toronto High School Red Knight football team.
Corky regularly attended First United Methodist Church in Toronto and the River Christian Fellowship Church in Empire, OH.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dan Heaton and niece Melissa Hartline.
Corky leaves behind his wife of 30 years, Susie (Hill) Heaton of home; his daughter, Janet Lee (Doug) Edmondson, son, Erle R. (Tricia) Heaton, Jr., daughter, Amanda (Greg) Lewis and daughter, Krissi (Tony) Febo all of Toronto; his granddaughters, Kayla Higgins, Ashley Edmondson, Erin Heaton and Rylee Heaton and his great-niece Myra Pierson; three great-grandchildren, Audrey and Elliot Higgins and Lucas Edmondson; sister-in-law, Hazel Heaton and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Corky will be held on Thursday, May 15, from 1-7 p.m. at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto, OH, where his funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. Rev. Kevin Rinkes and Pastor Michael Ingole will officiate the service and his burial will follow in Island Creek Cemetery in Toronto.
