WEIRTON - A structure housing a local business and two residential units was destroyed by fire early Tuesday.
The building, located at 1825 Pennsylvania Ave. and occupied by Guglielmo Investments and two apartments, was a total loss, according to Weirton Fire Chief Jerry Shumate.
Officials said no one was inside the structure, and no injuries were reported. The call came in at 3:14 a.m. when the blaze was spotted by a passenger in a cab, and the first unit from the Weirton Fire Department arrived at the scene at 3:22 a.m.

"The fire was heavily involved on the roof when we got here," Shumate said. "None of the tenants were home at the time. We kept it contained to the building of origin, so surrounding buildings were not affected. The owner has been notified, and we are investigating the cause at this time."
Shumate said one cat and one pet iguana were saved, but another cat remained missing as of Tuesday morning.
Fire departments from Hanover Township and Follansbee assisted the Weirton Fire Department in the response effort.
