Martha (Flaherty) Green, 91, of Brilliant, OH, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at Union Hospital in Dover, OH.
She was born August 9, 1922, in Brilliant, OH, a daughter of the late Samuel and Sadie (Lazear) Flaherty.
Martha worked as a secretary for Louis Berkman Co. in Steubenville before her marriage to Paul in 1950. After she got married she was a stay-at-home mom and then returned to work in 1967 as a secretary at Brilliant High School for 10 years.
She was a member of the Brilliant Christian Church where she played piano for the Children's Department and was a Deaconess. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting in her earlier years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul W. Green on January 14, 1998, and a brother and sister-in-law, James J. and Anna Belle Flaherty.
Surviving are her daughter, Barbara McCauley of New Philadelphia, OH; a granddaughter, Christine McCauley of Fredericksburg, VA; and a niece, JoAnn Flaherty and her husband, Tom McAllister of Atlanta, GA; and her beloved pet parakeet, Sami, who kept her company while she was living in the retirement center.
The family would like to thank the staff at Country Club Retirement Center in Dover for the wonderful care they gave Martha.
Friends will be received the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St., Brilliant, on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of her funeral services at 3 p.m. with Rev. John D. Ater, officiating.
Private interment at Fort Steuben Burial Estates, Wintersville, OH.
