Follansbee man facing charges
FOLLANSBEE - A Follansbee man has been arrested for assault, animal cruelty and other offenses in connection with an incident Thursday.
Daniel Yost Jr., 31, 109 Sunset Lane, also faces charges of disorderly conduct, public intoxication, trespassing and failure to be fingerprinted by the Brooke County Sheriff's Department.
According to police reports, sheriff's deputies were called to a home on Fourth Street at Hooverson Heights about 3:30 p.m. where they found a man holding Yost to the ground.
The man told the deputies he saw Yost throwing a dog to the ground repeatedly, a statement supported by other witnesses, and intervened. The man said Yost swung at him so he hit him once, knocking him to the ground, and held him until police arrived.
The owner of the dog, described as an 8-year-old mutt, said it appeared to be all right, but she would take it to a veterinarian to be checked. She said Yost entered her fenced property to reach the dog.
The police reports said Yost was uncooperative during his arrest, swearing at a Follansbee police officer on the scene and attempting to kick out the windows of a sheriff's department cruiser.
His case is pending in Brooke County Magistrate Court.
