Hydrant tests planned
WEIRTON - The Weirton Fire Department will be flow testing fire hydrants in portions of the city beginning Monday.
From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, flow tests will be performed on hydrants starting at Palm Drive and ending in the Country Club areas of Weirton. Beginning Tuesday through June 18, but not including June 14-15, flow testing will be performed starting at Gillson Avenue and ending at the Serbian-American Cultural Center.
No boil order will be in effect as a result of the testing; however, residents and businesses in these areas may experience low pressure, iron discoloration or air in the lines.
Rabies clinic set for Saturday
FOLLANSBEE - Webark Estates will hold a rabies clinic from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Tractor Supply store on state Route 2.
The cost is $5 each. No appointment is needed for the clinic, which is open to all area pet owners. Dogs should be brought on a leash and cats in carriers.
Mingo schools superintendent retires
WILLIAMSON - Randy Keathley announced this week that he's retiring as the head of Mingo County's school system at the end of the school year.Keathley began his educational career as an elementary school teacher and later became a principal before working as a superintendent.
