Brooke to hold hoops camp
WELLSBURG - Brooke High School will hold a youth basketball camp from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday.
Camp is open to all students who are entering grades 4-8. Any student entering the 9th grade may not attend due to WVSSAC rules. The cost per student is $50. Each additional child from the same family will be $45. Checks are to be made to Brooke High (footnoted boy's basketball).

Football officials wanted
STEUBENVILLE - The West Virginia-Ohio Board of certified football officials will hold classes from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. every Monday and Thursday from July 14-Aug. 21 at Eastern Gateway Community College in room 2505.

Blue Wave to hold sign-ups
FOLLANSBEE - Follansbee Blue Wave Youth Football will be hold registration from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at the trailer at the practice field north of Rite-Aid.
The organization consists of three teams - ages 7-8 weighing under 110 pounds, ages 9-10 weighing under 125 pounds and ages 11-12 weighing under 150 pounds.
There is also a program for 6-year-olds to sign-up on a strictly instructional basis. The fee is $65.

Big Red boosters to hold meeting
STEUBENVILLE - The Big Red Boosters Club will meet at 6 p.m. Monday in the conference room at the high school commins area.
Golf tournament open to sign-ups
CAMBRIDGE - The annual Salt Fork Junior Invitational will be held July 7 at Salt Fork State Park Golf Course with a 9:30 a.m. shotgun. The cost is $30 per person ($20 for those with Salt Fork golf memberships).
Awards will go to the top three finishers in the boys divisions (17-18, 15-16, 13-14) and top two in girls divisions (16-18, 13-15).

FUS to host tennis tournament
STEUBENVILLE - Franciscan University of Steubenville will host the Father Michael Scanlan Tennis Tournament July 18-20 at Belleview Park.
The tournament began in the 1980s as a public event. Eventually it became an intramural tournament for students only, before coming to an end. Scanlan was heavily involved in athletics during his tenure as FUS from 1974-2000. He often played tennis with the students. He retired in 2011 and moved to the Third Order Regular motherhouse in Loretto, Pa.
"Father Mike had many deep ties to the people of the Ohio Valley, and he loved athletic competition and playing tennis, his favorite sport," Barons Athletic Director Chris Ledyard. said "In bringing back this tournament, we are honoring Father Mike and the long of tradition of Franciscan athletics in our community."
The tournament will have men's and women's brackets, men's and women's doubles, mixed doubles, and a junior bracket for players under 18. Cost is $20 per person or per doubles team. Concessions will be provided each day. Participants will receive a T-shirt and one complimentary meal.
Panthers to hold hoops camp
RAYLAND - The Buckeye Local Boys Basketball Camp in grades K-8 will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 7-8 at the high school. Cost is $20 per person. Lunch will be provided and each camper will get a camp T-shirt.

Youth soccer camp offered
WELLSBURG - A youth soccer camp for students in grades 1-8 will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. June 30-July 2 at the Brooke High School soccer field. Cost is $30 per child. Registration will be held at the soccer field at 5 p.m. on June 30. Proceeds will benefit the Bruins girls soccer program.
