Romeo DeSimone, 87, of Weirton, WV, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2014, at Grace Cottage, Weirton, WV.
He was born March 5, 1927, in Grindstone, PA, the son of the late Virgilio and Natalina Antonelli DeSimone.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jennie Gregorio DeSimone; brothers, Harry and John DeSimone.
Romeo was a US Navy, World War II veteran, having served on the USS Caloosahatchee, VFW Post No. 2716 life member, American Legion Post No. 10. Romeo's employment and business endeavors included, working for Weirton Steel, owner/partner for 40 years of Holiday Lanes Bowling Center, partner in DeSimone Construction. He was the 1971 WV all events champion. He enjoyed working in his workshop, building furniture for his family. Past memberships included the Elks, Moose, Colliers Sportsman Club, and Pleasant Valley Country Club.
Surviving are his daughters, Debra Amorocchi (Anthony) of Weirton, WV, Doreen Fletcher (William) of Orlando, FL; sons, Michael DeSimone of Strongsville, OH, Mark DeSimone (Penny) of Follansbee, WV; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; sister, Marian Lancia (Dominic) of Fort Wayne, IN.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 24, 2014, 4-8 p.m. at Steel & Wolfe Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 380 Penco Road, Weirton, WV, where services will be held Wednesday at noon with Chaplain George Romage presiding. Entombment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery. Funeral honors will be provided by American Legion Post No. 10 Honor Squad.
