NEW CUMBERLAND - A project to repair the Station Hill sidewalk in downtown New Cumberland has once again been delayed.
Mayor Linda McNeil said the work is now scheduled to start on July 11 to allow time to organize the necessary traffic control.
Hancock County Sheriff's Reserve deputies should be available for traffic duty at that time, she said.
The work was scheduled to start on May 26 and was then moved to this Friday. Magnone Glaspell Masonry & Construction, of Weirton, was awarded the contract in January.
Because Station Hill is located on a heavily traveled state route, traffic through town must be maintained in both directions while the work is being done, McNeil said.
The sidewalk has been closed to pedestrian traffic since June 2012 because of damage caused by truck traffic.
