KONDIK, Francis, 55, of Dripping Springs, TX, passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2014, after spending the day riding his Harley through the Texas Hill Country and planning for a "special" Father's Day with his daughters.
Francis is survived by his treasured daughters, Bethany Kondik and Laurynn Kondik, of Dripping Springs, his mother, Bernadette Perun Kondik, of Toronto, Ohio, his sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen and Steve Kondik Lowe, his niece, her husband and great-nephew and niece, Deanne (Lowe), Mark, Kierce and Lena Magolis of Indiana, PA, his Uncle, Paul and Aunt Dolores Kondik, of Toronto, OH, and many other family members and cherished friends.
Francis was preceded in death by his father, Frank Kondik, and beloved nephew, Nathan Lowe.
Francis was the Director of Operations at Pioneer Roof Systems and had worked in the commercial/industrial roofing industry his entire career. His peers described him as an expert in his field with a strong-work ethic, and strong leadership skills.
Francis was fun loving and a practical joker with an incredible humor and wit. We could never anticipate what he might say or do for fun. He passed those gifts on to his daughters. Francis had a passion for Harleys (as demonstrated by his collection of three), NASCAR, particularly Dale Earnhardt whose race tire sat prominently displayed in Francis's home.
Francis was renowned amongst his friends and family for his cooking and took great joy and pleasure in sharing his infamous brisket, steaks, barbeque, "dippy eggs and toast", and other specialty dishes throughout the Texas Hill country. His love for cooking came from his mom who always prepared his favorite "Hunky" meal of cabbage rolls and city chicken on his visits to Ohio. His sister will never forget Francis babysitting his niece as a toddler and taking her for a ride on the handlebars of his Harley sportster or on his nephew's first visit to Texas at age 14, and Francis secretly took him on a tour of Francis' favorite watering holes around Austin.
The proudest legacies of Francis' life were his daughters, whose accomplishments and praises in volleyball, gymnastics, livestock shows, and academics he shared with all those he encountered. Francis' sudden departure has left his daughters, family, and dear and special friends devastated, but his antics and larger-than life personality will forever be etched in their hearts and minds. Thank you to all those who have supported the girls and family these last few days.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2014, at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Toronto, Ohio. A reception with the family will immediately follow in the church hall.
