Catholic Central plans softball camp
STEUBENVILLE - Coach Jim DiCarlo and the Catholic Central softball team are putting on a free softball clinic at the high school field July 14-16 - weather permitting.
The camp is open to girls in fifth through ninth grades. Bishop Mussio students are strongly encouraged to attend.
The camp will last from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Toronto continues basketball camp
TORONTO - The fourth-annual Toronto Youth Basketball Camp for boys and girls will run Thursday through Sunday.
Camp time is 10 a.m. to noon at the Toronto High School gym.
The camp is under the direction of Red Knights boys head coach John Leary and members of the boys and girls coaching staffs.
Cost of the camp is $15 and all participants will receive a camp T-shirt.
Junior tournament to be held
ST. CLAIRSVILLE - The Belmont Hills Country Club Junior Golf Tournament will be held July 28 for players ages 13-18 in five age groups - 13-15 and 16-18 girls; 13-14, 15-16, 17-18 boys.
It is a 10 a.m. shotgun start. Awards will be given to the top three finishers in each division.
The cost is $30 per person and is payable to the Barnesville Golf Parents. Lunch will be provided for all tournament contestants and available for purchase for spectators.
Deadline for entry is Monday.
Boosters to sponsor dinner
STEUBENVILLE - The Big Red Boosters Club will sponsor the Louis Giammarco Appreciation and Kickoff Dinner at the high school commons on July 27. The social mixer will begin at 1:30 p.m. with the dinner at 2 p.m. Big Red football head coach Reno Saccoccia will discuss the upcoming season and introduce the senior players and cheeleaders.
Tickets are $10 and are available at the high school office between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday; at the 6 p.m. boosters meeting on Monday at the high school conference room; or by calling Bob McGinnis at (740) 282-3529 or Herb Crossland at (740) 282-5123.
Free OVAC youth football clinic set
WHEELING - The Ohio Valley Athletic Conference will host its ninth-annual free youth football clinic on July 27 in conjunction with the Rudy Mumley OVAC All-Star Charity Football Classic presented by Huntington Bank and WTOV-TV at Wheeling Island Stadium.
Registration begins at 12:45 p.m. with the clinic running from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. It will be directed by OVAC football coaches, including members of coach Chris Daugherty's Wheeling Park High School football staff. Additionally, the Bethany College football staff will assist with the clinic.
The instructors will teach the basic fundamentals of football with a focus on building self-esteem. The clinic is free and open to boys and girls ages 6-13.
