Steuben Striders host final meet
STEUBENVILLE - Steuben Striders will host its final meet of the summer today at the Harding Middle School Track Complex.
Registration is from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. with a fee of $10 for three events. Each additional event is $1 for a total of four events. Children ages 5-18 may participate.

Steubenville softball holds sign up
STEUBENVILLE - Sign ups for Steubenville Girls Softball Association fall ball is July 21 and 22, as well as July 28 and 29 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. all four days.
Registration will be held at Bellevue Field No. 4.
Age groups are 8U, 10U, 12U and 15U. Cost is $30 for first girl and $15 for each additional girl.

Edison Junior High sets practices
RICHMOND - Edison junior high football will have conditioning sessions Monday through July 24 and July 28 through 31. These will be held at Edison High School from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The first official practice will be Aug. 1.
Edison Junior High volleyball will have its first practice Aug. 4 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Edison High School.
Physicals and all forms must be completed for first practices.
Steubenville hosts softball tourney
STEUBENVILLE - Steubenville girls softball will host the fourth-annual 8U/10U/12U/15U girls fast pitch softball tournament July 24-27.

Big Red program ads due
STEUBENVILLE - All personal and business advertisements for the 2014 Big Red football program must be turned into the high school ticket office by July 31.
Season tickets may also be prepaid at this time.
Marland Heights 5K set
WEIRTON - The Marland Heights 5-K Classic, hosted by the Weirton Board of Parks and Recreation, will be run along the city streets on Marland Heights on Aug. 15.
The event will feature a two-mile walk and youth races for children 12 and under. A special high school team points challenge will be contested, as well.
Registration forms are now available at the Millsop Community Center and online at: mcc-weir.tripod.com.
The cost to enter is $14 in advance for the adult races ($10 for teens) and $2 for youth fun run participants.
Race T-shirts will be given to the first 80 participants for the major races and walk.
Following the race, there will be a special awards ceremony and cookout for all participants and event sponsors.
Big Red boosters set banquet
STEUBENVILLE - The Big Red Booster Club has selected the 2014 Lew Giammarco Booster Appreciation-Kick Off Banquet honorees.
Honorees are Paul Filtz, Gary Kessler, Tom Mitchell, Tom Timmons and Ron Salvino. Tom DiMichael and Walter Mason Jr. are the deceased honorees.
Tickets are available for the July 27 event set for 2 p.m. at the high school commons for $10 and can be purchased at the high school office between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, or at the next booster meeting, which is set for 6 p.m. Monday.

Meeting planned for SHS moms
STEUBENVILLE - A meeting for Big Red football cheerleading moms will be held Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Harding cafeteria.
There will be a discussion on the upcoming season and pigskin preview.
St. John basketball camp slated
BELLAIRE - The 25th-annual St. John Central Basketball Camp will be held Monday through July 25 at the high school gym in Bellaire. The camp will again be under the direction of Lady Irish head coach Bubba Kapral.
Several speakers will be featured including: West Liberty University men's coach Jim Crutchfield, Monroe Central's Scooter Tolzda, former Beallsville head coach Casey Tolzda, OUE's E.J. Schodzinski and Hall of Fame basketball official Mike Coyne.
All campers will receive a camp T-shirt and green basketball. The camp will focus on the fundamentals of the game while also featuring several contests.
Campers are encouraged to bring a lunch and drink as a short lunch period will be provided. Camp sessions run from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day.
Cost of the camp is $35. Each additional family member is $25.
