Legion tourney starts Wednesday
WEIRTON - Weirton American Legion Post 10 will kick off the annual Area 1 Legion Tournament Wednesday at Ed Bowman Field playing Moundsville. Weirton is the No. 2 seed and Moundsville is No. 3.
The tournament opening game will be at 2 p.m. and will be followed at 5:30 p.m. with a game pitting No. 1 seed Wheeling Post 1 against St. Marys.
There will be two games again Thursday with the two losers from Wednesday squaring off at 2 p.m. in Game 3 and the winners meeting at 5:30 p.m. in Game 4. The winner of Game 3 and loser of Game 4 return Friday to play each other in Game 5 at 5:30 p.m. and the tournament finals will be held Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.
Post 33 falls in final
COSHOCTION - Top-seeded Wayne County defeated Steubenville Post 33, 9-1, Monday at Lake Park to win the Region 7 tournament.

TORONTO - Toronto junior high football will begin at 8 a.m. Monday at the high school football field.
Huskies to hold meeting
CADIZ - Harrison Central High School will hold its annual fall player/parent meeting at 6 p.m. July 30 at the John W. Stephenson Center. The meeting is for any student in grades 7-12 who will be playing a sport this fall at Harrison Central. It is a required meeting by the OHSAA.
FUS to hold hoops skills camp
STEUBENVILLE - Franciscan University of Steubenville men's basketball coach John Lamanna will hold a high school basketball skills camp from 9 a.m. to noon July 28-31 at the Finnegan Fieldhouse. Cost is $20 per person.
Edison to sell tickets, passes
RICHMOND - Edison football season tickets and senior citizen passes will be on sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 11-15 in the athletic office. It will be renewals only Aug. 11-12, new seat holders Aug. 13-14 and exchanges Aug. 15.
Season tickets will consist of four tickets at $32 a seat. The first home game of the season against Oak Glen will be played at 4 p.m. Aug. 30 at Weir High. The game will be sold as a separate ticket and includes a full day of events. In-district senior citizen passes are $40 and out of district are $50.

RICHMOND - Larry Bails recorded a hole-in-one at Blackmoor Golf Course. The Weirton resident used a 9-iron on the 129-yard par 3 12th hole. Deny Bailey, Mike Greene and Ted Witaker witnessed the shot.

Venom to hold tryouts
FOLLANSBEE - The Ohio Valley Venom will hold a tryout from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Follansbee Pony field. Eligible players should be 13-years-old by April 1.
