CARTER, Louise, 88, of East Springfield, OH, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014, at Lancia Nursing Home, Steubenville.
She was born Feb. 28, 1926, in Gem, WV, a daughter of the late John and Lydia Wilson Sands. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Willard F. Carter; two brothers and five sisters.
She was an employee of the old Ohio Valley Hospital and the old Forrester Nursing Home.
Louise was a member of the East Springfield United Methodist Church of the Cross where she was active in the Sunday School, Church and Bible School.
She enjoyed writing poetry and was published in various local collections.
Louise enjoyed working at Bible school and called all the kids her own and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She loved her pets and reading the scriptures. Daniel was her favorite book.
She leaves one son, Billy Joe of Cleveland, OH, three step-daughters, Beverly Wiley, Carrollton, Barbara (Paul) Lenigar and Edith (Bobby) Lenigar, all of Salem, OH and their families; a sister, Juanita Blake, Greenwood, WV; many nieces and nephews, some wonderful friends; her caregivers, Darl and Barbara Dinger and her special niece, Laurel.
Friends may call at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 110 West Main St., Richmond on Monday from 10 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Sam Davis officiating.
