Marian L. Sutherland, 100, of Piney Fork, OH, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014, in the Gables Care Center in Hopedale, OH.
Marian just celebrated her 100th birthday being born on July 14, 1914, in Brownsville, PA, daughter of the late Fred and Etta Thompson Hunter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Sutherland who passed in 1987 and her sister Annabelle McCullough.
She was an elder, Sunday School teacher, member of the Ladies Missionary Society and played the organ for over 60 years at the Piney Fork Presbyterian Church. She also was a member of the Smithfield Senior Citizens, Liberty Grange, Farm Bureau and Smithfield Senior Women's Club. She worked for Buckeye Local Schools as a teacher and library aide.
Marian leaves behind her four children, Mary Ann (Lloyd) Boyd of Piney Fork, Thomas (Cindy) Sutherland of Powell, OH, David (Nina) Sutherland of Dillonvale, OH, and Karen (Michael) French of Huntsville, AL; her brother John (Maxine) Hunter of Marion, OH; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Marian will be held on Sunday, July 27 from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Smithfield, OH. Funeral services for Marian will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Piney Fork Presbyterian Church in Piney Fork, OH, with Mark Carpino officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens in Colerain, OH.
