SHARROW, Richard Samuel, 75, of Weirton passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014, at the Alzheimer's Unit of Weirton Geriatric Center.
Rich was born on June 7, 1939, in Steubenville, OH, a son to the late Samuel Joseph Sharrow and Martha Dworzecki Sharrow.
On Aug. 29, 1959, Rich was joined in marriage to Mary Jane Stone Sharrow at St. Paul Catholic Church in Weirton.
Rich was retired from Weirton Steel Corporation as a welder for 35 years in the Steel Works Welding Shop. He was also employed as Security at Pittsburgh International Airport as well as Security for the Mountaineer Race Track and Gaming Resort where he also maintained the antique automobiles.
Rich was a 1957 Weir High School graduate, and a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Weirton. Rich was also a member of the Weirton Steel Corporation 25-Year Club and a member of the Fort Steuben Street Rods. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed golfing and was well known in town for his love of antique automobiles and his ability to never know a stranger, and he never missed watching the Pittsburgh Pirates on television.
In addition to his parents, Rich is preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Billcheck; his niece, Laurie Vaughn; mother-in-law, Martha Stone; father-in-law, Frank Stone; and brother-in-law, Edward Stone.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Stone Sharrow; sister, Deborah Kostka (Gary) of Weirton; daughter, Kristen L. Anderson (Joe) of Mineral Wells,WV; sons, Richard M. Sharrow of Weirton and Joseph F. Sharrow (Sherry) of Fredericksburg, VA, and Steven E. Sharrow (Megan) of Weirton; nephew, David Vaughn of Georgia; niece, Martha Welsh of Ohio; nephew, Thomas Billcheck of Weirton; grandchildren, Matthew Sharrow and Megan Sharrow of Weirton, Adam Sharrow and John Hefley of Virginia; Joey, Alexa, and Chase Anderson of Mineral Wells, WV; Ryan Whiteleather of Weirton; and Jacob Sharrow of Weirton.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at the Steel and Wolfe Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 380 Penco Road, Weirton, WV from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 30 at 11 a.m. with Reverend James Rhodes presiding.
Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens 135 Gilson Avenue, Weirton,WV 26062.
