Norma Jean Scheetz, 83, of Follansbee, WV, passed away on Monday, August 4, 2014, at her residence.
Norma was born on January 5, 1931, in Topeka, KS. She was the daughter of the late Frank and May (Brown) Swager.
Norma served proudly in the United States Navy as a WAVE. She was stationed in Florida during the Korean War. Norma was Christian by faith. She worked at the former Mammouth Plastics for several years.
In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Gale W. Scheetz Sr.; a son, Bruce A. Scheetz; a daughter, Cindy Scheetz; a granddaughter, Tiffany Scheetz; and a brother, Frank Swager.
Norma is survived by her two sons, Gale W. (Jeanie) Scheetz of Follansbee, WV, and Frank J. (Roxanne) Scheetz of Chambersburg, PA; two daughters, Brenda M. Scheetz of Oklahoma City, OK, and Carol A. Esposito of Wellsburg, WV; two granddaughters, Mellow B. Scheetz of Florida and Jessica Bozenske of Benwood, WV; four grandsons: Tom (Jen) McBride of Pennsylvania, Matt Leavitt of Follansbee, WV, Chad DeGarmo of Florida and Chris DeGarmo of North Carolina; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty (Henry) Chirveno of Maryland; and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, August 6, 2014, from 3 p.m. until time of funeral service at 6 p.m. at the James Funeral Home, 1245 Main St., Follansbee, WV, (304) 527-1717, with the Rev. Gene Sheppard officiating and military honors by the United States Navy and Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad.
Following the service, Norma will be cremated and laid to rest at a later date at Oak Grove Cemetery in Follansbee, WV, next to her husband.
