WEIRTON - Weirton Medical Center is making plans for its second-annual Breast Fest event, scheduled to take place Oct. 2.
The event, dedicated toward helping to raise awareness of breast cancer, will be held 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the hospital's atrium.
It is being planned by Weirton Medical Center's Breast Care team, led by Dr. Carol Slomski, with organizers considering it to be among the hospital's premier events of the year.

Proceeds from Breast Fest will benefit Athena's Closet, a local organization founded to assist cancer patients in the community, as well as the Weirton Medical Center Foundation.
The evening will include a discussion led by three local breast cancer survivors, according to organizers, and also will feature a bra decorating contest, during which time attendees will vote on their favorite decorated bra.
Door prizes also will be available.
