Bobcats edge Steubenville
STEUBENVILLE - Cambridge's Hannah Miller found a loose ball and the back of the net in the 46th minute to score the lone goal in a 1-0 victory over the Steubenville girls soccer team Tuesday at Harding Stadium.
"We out-shot them 15 to three in the second half, we moved the ball very well, found the open lanes, and created the right opportunities, however, for some odd reason, we just couldn't find the back of the net tonight," said Big Red (1-1) head coach Jared Robinson.
Karlee Burns recorded 18 saves for the Bobcats, while Gillian Haught had six for Steubenville.
"Cambridge is a tough program and they play very strong. They have a very talented goalkeeper who made some tremendous saves," said Robinson, whose team hosts Magnolia at 1 p.m. Saturday "Looking back at tonight, I know our girls are feeling this loss, but there are a lot of positives to take away from it. We moved the ball very well, played aggressive, and continued to grow together as a team.
"Soccer is a tough sport; you can play the game to the best but it all it takes is one bad play and you can wind up on the wrong side of the final. We have a resilient bunch this year and we know this will just push us harder at practice to get better."
