Thomas J. Boychan Sr. 86, of Steubenville, died Monday August 25, 2014. at home.
He was born May 7, 1928, in Steubenville. He is the son of the late Thomas E. and Mary Melko Boychan.
Thomas is also preceded in death by his sister, Patty Caniff.
Tom was a member of Triumph of the Cross Catholic Church and formerly of St. Pius X, Jefferson County Sportsman Association, and was a graduate of CCHS class of 1946.
Surviving are his wife, Eleanor McCartney Boychan whom he married September 6, 1952; two sons, Thomas J. (Julie) Boychan Jr. of Cincinnati and David (Leslie) Boychan of Columbus; two daughters, Susan (Fred) Schoppe of New Alexandria and Linda (Richard) Budney of Weirton; a sister, Mary Jane Thurston of CA; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Tom leaves great memories. The family enjoyed many vacations, gatherings, holidays, and sporting events. We thank God we had him and will always keep him in our hearts.
Tom was retired from the former Wheeling- Pittsburgh Steel, BOF and served his country in U.S. Navy during World War II.
Tom enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends and family; following Catholic Central and Notre Dame Football. He will be especially missed in the fall.
Calling hours are Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd. A Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Thursday 11:30 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Fr. Bradley Greer, celebrant. Burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. There will be a vigil service 3:45 p.m. Wednesday.
