John "Jack" Hosenfeld, 83, of Mingo Junction, Ohio, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2014, at Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, Ohio.
He was born December 30, 1930, in Steubenville, Ohio, a son of the late Paul E. "Forest" and Carrie M. (Mayle) Gallagher Hosenfeld. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, William P. Hosenfeld; and a sister, Alma Jean Hosenfeld.
Jack was a retired Engineer from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corp. He was also a member of Finley United Methodist Church. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting and working in his vegetable garden.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Necia P. (Buell) Hosenfeld, whom he married on October 28, 1949; two sons, Terry M. (Tammy) Hosenfeld and Jerry Lee Hosenfeld, both of Mingo Junction, Ohio; a foster son, David (Darla) Scott of Mishawaka, Indiana; a daughter-in-law, Linda Hosenfeld of Columbus, Ohio; a sister, Geraldine Gallagher Tarr of Toronto, Ohio; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Friends may gather to celebrate Jack's life at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St., Brilliant, on Thursday, September 4, from 11 a.m. until the time of his memorial service at noon with Pastor Jerry Ernst, officiating. Private burial will take place at New Alexandria Cemetery.
