What happened to the huge reserve that these officials have been discussing for the last 3 years, while no real improvements have been made?

Yea, sure. Bleed every ounce of blood out of the people who are left in town. Why is it that most of these people making the tax decisions haven't worked for the mill? They are business owners, landlords, etc. Give the folks a break! Start down sizing the city government, cut back on raises and learn to do more with less like the rest of us! Jules Verne

No fees or taxes should be increased without first exhausting other avenues of cost cutting. The city continues to hire in the fire department, while also paying overtime unnecessarily to the firemen instead of simply changing their work schedule to 52 hours per week--more firefighters per shift with less cost. They also wasted $5000 on exercise equipment for them, which,if you look at some of the firemen I doubt if they ever used it. While everyone else pays something toward the cost of their health care, the city continues to pay the full premium, plus the yearly deductibles for all their employees. Don't raise my fees if you are going to continue to waste my money!
