Community news from around the area
Foster Care session set
STEUBENVILLE — Aim Women’s Center, in partnership with Holy Family Catholic Church and the Jefferson County Department of Job and Family Services, will co-host a Foster Care Information Session at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church, located at 2565 Alexander Ave. in Steubenville.
The free community event is open to anyone who has considered foster care or wants a better understanding of how to support vulnerable children in our area. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the current need for foster parents in Jefferson County and what steps are involved in becoming a foster caregiver.
Representatives from the Jefferson County Department of Children’s Services will be in attendance, sharing information and answering questions on a range of topics, including space requirements, religious practices in the home, completing a home study, education for foster children and more.
“This is a chance for our community to come together and explore how we can support children in need — right here in the Ohio Valley,” stated Rebekah Cohen Morris, executive director of Aim Women’s Center. “Whether you’re ready to open your home or just want to learn more, this session is a great first step.”
Light refreshments will be served. No RSVP is required.
For information or to RSVP, contact Cohen Morris at (770) 715-7200 or by e-mail at rcohenmorris@aimwomenscenter.com.
