Levy informational meetings planned in Hancock County

NEW CUMBERLAND – Two informational events have been scheduled to allow residents an opportunity to learn more about Hancock County Schools’ proposed bond levy, set to appear on the Nov. 5 ballot.

Events will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Weir High School theater, and 6 p.m. Oct. 23 in the school board meeting room of the John D. Rockefeller IV Career Center.

If approved by voters, the levy would raise $10.65 million through a term of 10 ½ years to pay off bonds sold to fund planned security and facility improvements at each of the county’s public school buildings.

Jefferson County Health Board to meet

STEUBENVILLE — The Jefferson County Board of Health will meet in regular session at 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday in the second-floor community room of the Jefferson County Towers Building.

Vendors sought for Christmas market

WELLSBURG — The Wellsburg Chamber of Commerce seeks vendors for its first Christmas Marketplace, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 29 at the Wellsburg Banquet Hall on 12th Street.

It will coincide with the chamber’s Christmas parade, which will begin at 4 p.m. that day.

Environmental group to hold open house

FOLLANSBEE — Ohio Valley Environmental Advocates will hold an open house from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 19 to share information about a collaborative air monitoring project that aims to inform area residents about air quality in this region.

The event will be held at the Brooke County Senior Center at 948 Main St.

Attendees will learn how they can participate, host a monitor at no cost and help advocate for cleaner air.
