Brooke gets its first win 

HAMLIN — The strides Brooke had made the past few weeks finally resulted in the Bruins getting in the win column.

Brooke traveled to Lincoln County on Friday night and came home with a 33-14 victory, their first of the season and their first under first year head coach Casey Goff.

Ty Sperringer threw for 86 yards, a touchdown and a pick, Triston Stevens ran for 129 yards and three touchdowns on just 10 carries and Darion Hilton hauled in a score and finished with 52 yards on three catches to lead the now 1-4 Bruins.

Stevens had scoring runs of 54 and 32 yards in the second half to help Brooke pull away.

Brayden McFarland had a pair of sacks and two and half tackles for a loss on defense, while Cory Maynard and Garrett Moore combined for 30 tackles.

Stevens and Brody Drumm each had an interception.

The Bruins are back on the road next week traveling to Bridgeport.

McDiffit leads Panthers

YORKVILLE — Senior quarterback Alex McDiffit had a huge night to lead Buckeye Local to its second win of the season Friday night at World War II Memorial Stadium.

McDiffit went 17 of 22 passing for 192 yards and a touchdown and ran the ball 22 times for another 119 yards and three touchdowns in leading the Panthers to a 36-31 win over visiting Shenandoah.

The now 4-2 Panthers also got a rushing score from Wyatt Luyster while racking up 208 yards on the ground as a team.

Andrew Jones hauled in a 60-yard score from McDiffit, Hayden Boyce finished with 56 yards on three catches and five receivers made multiple catches for Buckeye Local.

McDiffit’s scoring runs went for 10, 25 and 5 yards.

The now 2-4 Panthers travel north on Ohio Route 7 next Friday to take on 4-2 Toronto.
